Verse 32 of Sura al-Anfal and Ghadir
Verse 32 of Sura al-Anfal is a verse that narrates the request for punishment by one of the deniers of al-Ghadir. This verse was revealed after his request for punishment.

Some researchers have described the occasion of revelation for Anfal Verse 32 concerning the deniers of al-Ghadir as follows:[1] After the event of al-Ghadir, when Harith al-Fihri came before the Prophet (s) and declared his objection to the choice of al-Ghadir, the Prophet (s) said: O Harith, fear God and repent for what you have uttered regarding enmity towards 'Ali b. Abi Talib.
Harith raised his head towards the sky and said: "O God, if Muhammad is truthful in what he says, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or send down upon us a painful punishment that would be a retribution for the first of us (deniers of wilaya) and a sign for those who come after us; and if what Muhammad says is false, then send down a punishment upon him."
God immediately recorded Harith's words by revealing Anfal Verse 32 to the Prophet (s):
وَ اِذْ قالُوا اللَّهُمَّ اِنْ کانَ هذا هُوَ الْحَقُّ مِنْ عِنْدِکَ فَاَمْطِرْ عَلَیْنا حِجارَةً مِنَ السَّماءِ اَوِ ائْتِنا بِعَذابٍ اَلیمٍ
- And when they said, O Allah, if this is indeed the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky, or bring upon us a painful punishment.
It was here that the enemies of al-Ghadir entered into Mubahala concerning al-Ghadir; Harith's statement was a request for a divine response to demonstrate truth and falsehood, and a miracle had to occur to prove that al-Ghadir was 'a truth from God'.[2]
