Verse 27 of Surah al-Hajj is a verse concerning the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada') and the call for Muslims to participate in it before al-Ghadir.

Regarding the connection between verse 27 of Surah al-Hajj and al-Ghadir, it has been stated: One of the important events before the Farewell Pilgrimage and al-Ghadir was the revelation of the verses of Hajj, including verse 27 of Surah al-Hajj: Template:Quranic text

In the ninth year of the Hijra, the year before the Farewell Pilgrimage, Muslims and polytheists performed the Hajj together. In that same year, Imam Ali (a), on behalf of the Prophet (s), declared according to the command of verse 3 of Surah al-Tawba: From the following year, only Muslims shall perform the Hajj, and polytheists have no right to be present at the Hajj.[1]

Due to the command of disavowal (bara'a), in the tenth year of the Hijra, for the first time, the House of God was emptied of polytheists, and the Abrahamic Hajj was realized, far from the innovations of the Age of Ignorance. Now, the people were waiting carefully to see what the difference was between the Hajj of the Age of Ignorance and the Abrahamic Hajj, so that they could learn its details from the Prophet (s). With the revelation of verse 27 of Surah al-Hajj, the Prophet (s) made a public announcement for this spiritual journey and, with the arrival of the month of Dhu l-Qa'da, issued the order for people to prepare to move toward the Hajj.[2]

He encouraged the people to perform the Hajj and said: "Whoever intends to perform the Hajj, let him hasten, for he may become ill or some matter may arise for him."[3] On one hand, he sent heralds to Medina and its surroundings to inform everyone of his decision for this journey. On the other hand, he wrote letters to the distant regions of the Islamic territory that the Prophet (s) intended to perform the Hajj and that everyone who could should be present on this journey. Through this method, the news of this journey reached everyone, and the people prepared for the journey. From the settlements far and near to Medina and the nomads, a large crowd entered Medina to accompany him on this journey so that they could see the rituals of Hajj up close and learn from the Prophet (s) himself.[4]
