Verse 64 of Sura al-Tawba and Ghadir
Verse 64 of Sura al-Tawba is among the verses revealed against the hypocrites during the Ghadir event, which threatened them with the exposure of their conspiracies against Ghadir.
The context of the revelation of Verse Sixty-four of Surah Tawba has been described by some researchers as follows: Following the plot to assassinate the Prophet (s) by the hypocrites at Harshi Pass and its neutralization, four verses of the Qur'an were revealed concerning their action; verses that identified their identity and objectives. Among these verses was Verse Sixty-four of Surah Tawba:
- The hypocrites are afraid that a sura might be sent down concerning them, informing them about what is in their hearts. Say, 'Go on mocking! Allah will expose what you are afraid of.' [1]
