Verse Forty-nine of al-A'raf and Ghadir
آیه ۴۹ سوره اعراف.png

Verse Forty-nine of Sura al-A'raf is a verse that was used by the Prophet (s) during the events of Ghadir to describe the status of the lovers of Amir al-Mu'minin (a) on the Day of Judgment.

Some researchers have described the context for the use of this verse as follows:[1] After Harith b. Nu'man al-Fihri objected at Ghadir to the matter of the Imamate and *wilaya* of Amir al-Mu'minin (a) and a stone fell from the sky upon him[2] and the Prophet (s) made some statements in this regard, he addressed the crowd, saying: "Did you see with your own eyes?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Did you hear with your own ears?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Blessed is he who loves 'Ali, and woe to him who shows enmity towards him. It is as if I see 'Ali and his Shi'a on the Day of Judgment, being taken on camels towards the gardens of Paradise, with their faces youthful, wearing crowns, and having kohl in their eyes."

The Prophet (s) continued his speech by referring to a part of Verse Forty-nine of Sura al-A'raf: ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ لا خَوْفٌ عَلَیْکُمْ وَ لا اَنْتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ,Enter paradise! No fear shall be on you, nor shall you grieve. He then referred to Verse Seventy-two of Sura al-Tawba.[3]
