Verse 10 of Sura al-Tahrim is a verse against two of the wives of the Prophet (s) who revealed the Prophet's secret about Ghadir to their fathers.

The occasion of revelation for Verse Ten of Sūrat al-Taḥrīm has been described as follows:[1] With the actions that ʿĀʾishah and Ḥafṣah took during the journey of Hajjat al-Wada' in Mecca, and revealed the Prophet's (s) secrets about the program of wilāyah to their fathers, the Prophet (s), after returning to Medina, no longer went to the homes of ʿĀʾishah and Ḥafṣah and did not receive them, showing his displeasure with them to everyone.

The two of them raised this issue with their fathers. They said: "We know why he has behaved this way. You should go to him and incline him towards yourselves with affection, for you will find him modest and generous. Perhaps this way you can draw out what is in his heart and lessen his anger." Following this decision, ʿĀʾishah came alone to the Prophet (s) and found him in the house of Umm Salamah, while Amīr al-Muʾminīn (a) was also with him.

The Prophet (s) asked: "Why have you come?" She said: "O Messenger of Allah, it was unusual for me that after returning from this journey, you did not come to your house, and I seek refuge in Allah from your displeasure." He said: "If what you say is true, then you should not have revealed the secret that I entrusted you to keep. By doing this, you have destroyed yourself and led a group of people to destruction." It was here that Allah, in continuation of the verses of Sūrat al-Taḥrīm -which had been revealed concerning the betrayal of ʿĀʾishah and Ḥafṣah in revealing the Prophet's (s) secret in Mecca- explicitly declared their treachery in Verse Ten of this Sura and likened the two of them to the two treacherous wives of Prophet Nūḥ and Prophet Lūṭ (a), and revealed thus:

ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلاً لِلَّذینَ کَفَرُوا امْرَأَةَ نُوحٍ وَ امْرَأَةَ لُوطٍ، کانَتا تَحْتَ عَبْدَیْنِ مِنْ عِبادِنا صالِحَیْنِ فَخانَتاهُما فَلَمْ یُغْنِیا مِنَ اللَّهِ شَیْئاً وَ قیلَ ادْخُلا النّارَ مَعَ الدّاخِلینَ
Allah has cited an example for the faithless: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants, yet they betrayed them. So they could not avail them anything against Allah, and it was said, ‘Enter the Fire along with those who enter.’[2]
