Verses 27-29 of Al-Furqan and Ghadir
Verses 27-29 of Sura Al-Furqan are verses about the regretful fate of the companions of the First Cursed Sahifa on the Day of Judgment, who regret their friendship with each other and their deviation from the path of Ghadir.
Regarding the context of applying verses 27-29 of Sura Al-Furqan to the companions of the First Cursed Sahifa, it has been stated that:[1] The companions of the Sahifa signed their covenant during the Farewell Pilgrimage and began their work. The worldly outcome of writing that covenant was less than three years of rule for Abu Bakr and less than twelve years for 'Umar, which ended with regret and remorse. This regret and remorse also afflicts all their followers when death comes to them. Verse 167 of Sura Al-Baqara has been applied to their regret.
From the connection of verses 27-29 of Sura Al-Furqan with the companions of the Cursed Sahifa, three points have been inferred, one of which is the disavowal of the companions of the Sahifa from each other at the time of death and on the Day of Judgment, and their regret for their dark past. Regarding the disavowal of the companions of the Sahifa from each other on the Day of Judgment: On the Day of Judgment, God will display shocking scenes from the founders of deviation in Islam so that the repercussions of the actions of the companions of the Sahifa become clear to everyone. Among them is verse 29 of Sura Al-Furqan, which Abu Bakr uttered at the time of death and applied to himself: "He has certainly led me astray from the Qur'an after it came to me."
Based on this, verses 27-29 of Sura Al-Furqan have been fully interpreted in the words of Imam Muhammad b. 'Ali al-Baqir (a):
The Day when the wrongdoer will bite his hands
, the wrongdoer means Abu Bakr.
He will say: Oh, would that I had taken a path with the Messenger
, meaning, oh, would that I had accepted 'Ali with the Prophet.
Oh, would that I had not taken so-and-so as a friend
, so-and-so means 'Umar.
He certainly led me astray from the remembrance after it came to me
, remembrance means wilayah.
And Satan has always been a betrayer of man
: Satan means the second one.[2]
